Goku-Well, I guess I should start with the star. Goku is a member of a fighting race called the Saiya-jin. They are beings that only exist to fight. Goku's Saiya-jin name is Kakarotto. His father was named Bardock. He was killed along with the rest of his race when his planet was destroyed. He is only one of four survivors. He was flown to Earth in a spacecraft as a baby to destroy it when he grew up. However, he was found by an old man. He was a very mean and vicious baby. One day, while hiking with the man, he fell down a ravine and hit his head. The event changed him completely and from then on, he became a nice child. He became a martial artist and competed in many tournements. He gains a rival in a green warrior named Piccolo (he'll get his own profile). Fast forward to the beginning of DBZ. Goku gets married to a woman named Chi-Chi (explained later in her profile). They have a son named Gohan (again, explained later in his proflie). Goku's Saiya-jin heritage is revealed by one of the survivors. The Saiya-jin's name is Raditzu and he kidnaps Gohan. Goku manages to save Gohan with some help from Piccolo. However, he is killed in the process because of some action Piccolo took to stop Raditzu. Raditzu reveals that remaining two Saiya-jins are on their way to Earth. Goku is lifted to heaven where he is directed to a guy named King Kai whom he can train with to prepare for the match with the Saiya-jin (I might explain him later). It takes him 6 months to get to his small planet. He takes another 6 to train with him. Later, he returns to Earth with the help of the Dragon Balls and fights and defeats the two Saiya-jins (I'll get to them, one of them is really important because he becomes a main character eventually). Moving on to the next saga. Goku needs to go to the Planet Namek (more on that later). He needs to fight the evil Freeza. A super-villan and planet "trader". During the fight, he manages to become the ultimate stage for a Saiya-jin. The legendary level known as Super Saiya-jin. He manages to defeat Freeza and save the universe. However, Goku ends up not being able to leave Namek and sadly, because of some stuff Freeza did, Goku ends up being blown up with the planet. So, everyone thinks Goku is destroyed right? WRONG! Goku survives the planet's destruction. He goes planet hopping and eventually runs into a race of people who help him get back to Earth. When he arrives, a boy named Trunks (again, he'll have his own profile) tells him that he will die of a heart disease in 3 years. Okay, fast forward three years later. Goku doesn't die of the disease because Trunks gives him a special medicine that wasn't invented in Goku's time and saves him. Trunks also warns Goku that two androids will appear then. He and the rest of the Z Senshi (referred to in Dragon Ball Z as the "Earth's Special Forces") fight off the androids. However, they don't destroy them. A being known as Cell shows up. He absorbs two of the Androids (I might do a profile of all the Androids as a whole later). Cell holds a tournement and calls Goku to participate. He does. Goku and the Z Senshi try and fight off Cell. Unfortunately, Goku dies for a second time trying to stop Cell. Now, the new Kami (I might do a DBZ term glossary later and I'll include this) has managed to power up the Dragon Balls so they can bring back someone more than once. Before, the DBs couldn't bring back someone who died more than once (like in Goku's case). So now they can bring back Goku, but then he tells them from heaven that he doesn't want to be brought back. So for right now, the story of the great Goku is officially over. Or is it...?
Gohan-This is one tough kid! Gohan is Goku and Chi Chi's first son. He starts life under some stressful conditions. In the first DBZ movie, Gohan is kidnapped by a villian known as Garlic Jr. (more on him later). Gohan, however, manages to stop Garlic by throwing him into a void using a special power that is only activated when he's angry. Gohan, is later captured by Raditzu (Goku's brother from earlier) and used as bait to get Goku to kill 100 Earthlings. He throws Gohan into his spaceship, unaware of the boy's hidden powers. When, Goku and Piccolo arrive, they get the treatment from Raditzu. However, Gohan's power level (if I do a glossary, this will be in it) shoots up upon watching the fight. He destroy's the spaceship and gives Raditzu a VERY powerful spear with his head. This damages Raditzu enough so Goku and Piccolo can kill him. They do so, but Goku dies. Now, Piccolo understands that the boy has amazing powers. He decides to train Gohan in the wild for a year until the two other Saiya-jins that Raditzu promised arrive. That way, they can be prepared. Piccolo doesn't know what he's in for... Fast forward one year: Gohan's training is completed (after quite a few beatings and incidents from and with Piccolo). He and the rest of the Z Senshi (who also spent a year in training) come face-to-face with Nappa and Vegeta (the two Saiya-jins from Goku's profile). As the fight begins, Gohan stays on the sidelines out of fear until all but himself and Krillin (I'll touch on him) remain alive (yes, even Piccolo himself is killed by Nappa). Then, Goku shows up! He beats down Nappa, then watches as Vegeta betrays and kills him. Now the real Gohan is revealed. The three warriors eventually manage to run-off Vegeta (with some help from Gohan's ability to change into a were-monkey like all Saiya-jins with the power of a full moon (or moon ball, which is what is used by Vegeta first and then Gohan after that)). Now, on to the Namek/Frieza saga...
